Who: 

Any pupil who is currently year 11 or re-sitting at college and wants to make SIGNIFICANT progress in English, Maths or Science in as little as 10-weeks.

What: 

Programme of study designed to boost the learning of pupils by up to 2 grades (or 30%) in one subject area in as little as 10-weeks. 

• English or Maths.

• Aiming for Grade 4 or Aiming for Grade 7.

• 2 x 60-minute sessions per week.

• Follow on tasks targeted at the relevant grades PLUS AI support task-setting to supporting quicker progress.

• Assessments - Pre and Post teaching to track progress.

Why:

I wanted to provide an affordable opportunity for parents to secure their child a significant improvement in their attainment in a short timeframe. I know that all too often, a significant chunk of pupils "click into gear" too late to have a significant impact on their final grades, or have too much ground to make up. I wish to prevent those pupils from missing their chance at success and having their pathway to further education blocked or disrupted. This is ideal for those who are approaching their GCSEs, or those who have fallen behind their peers (perhaps they have been significantly hit by absence or illness) and want to catch up quickly.

Where:

This course is solely online and is delivered via zoom. You will need to ensure you have a suitable space for participating in the session AND a space for completing any work set during the session. All tutors will provide guided support using the very best in teaching resources and strategies to ensure that all pupils make MAXIMUM progress. We have found that the online element of learning can be hugely beneficial to pupils who may get distracted in a traditional classroom environment, provided they have a safe and purposeful space to work in (we find having a "No Phones" policy helps significantly during sessions).

When:

Programmes begin at the start of each half term and run for 10 weeks. Please note: You will need to have enrolled in February to have enough time prior to final GCSE exams. Sessions are timetabled by subject and target grade. Therefore, each student will be given a timetabled session dependent on the result of their initial assessment. This is vital to ensure that children do not lose motivation by having too high, or too low levels of challenge.

How: 

#1) Explicit teaching of the fundamentals elements of GCSE English or Maths

So they have strong foundational understanding, for which to build upon.

#2) Assessing pupils against the core content from the GCSE.

To identify the elements of the GCSE that pupils are unable to master.

#3) Focusing learning on the skills/knowledge gaps from the assessments.

So that all work in focused on the gaps and time is used effectively to ensure maximum progress.

#4) Setting independent learning activities based on the gap analysis.

These tasks do not progress onto a new objective until pupils are ready. This is to ensure that pupils are given the opportunity to master the grasp of these gaps in knowledge.

#5) Re-testing and refinement.

We regularly test pupils to ensure learning has stuck, progress has been made, and that our target areas can be refined to ensure maximum impact.

For students who have attended all sessions and completed all follow on tasks, if there is not a 1 grade (or 20%) improvement in attainment during the 10 week programme we will give you 10 more weeks tuition COMPLETELY FREE.
